STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIST
DETAILS:
Compensation: $60,320 - $93,600 salary range.
Location: Vancouver or Sea to Sky, BC. Hybrid options available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Develop detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, Fusion360, SolidWorks, etc.
-
Perform preliminary structural framing layouts.
-
Create and modify custom families/components in Revit and blocks in AutoCAD.
-
Update designs based on feedback from engineers or architects.
-
Collaborate with engineers on a wide range of building design projects.
-
Coordinate and assemble drawing packages for building permit and construction documentation.
-
Maintain drawing standards and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Carry out field surveys and other site-related coordination as needed.
-
Generate structural models in analysis software such as SkyCiv, RAM Structural Systems, etc.
-
BIM coordination with other engineering disciplines and architects as needed to support the project.
-
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
-
Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering Technology or related training.
-
4+ years of relevant experience as a Structural Technologist/Drafter in steel, concrete, wood and masonry.
-
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD (2D/3D) and Bluebeam required.
-
Working knowledge of on-site construction and construction methodology.
-
Knowledge of BC Building Codes and applicable material design standards.
-
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
-
Strong attention to detail and experience with timber, structural steel and concrete detailing essential.
-
The ability to manage time effectively and work both autonomously and part of a team is a must.
-
Registered or eligible to be registered with ASTTBC as a Certified Technician (CTech). Ikon will cover registration and annual renewal fees.
Nice to have:

Experience setting up structural models in analysis software such as RAM Structural Systems, Skyciv, Staad.pro etc..

Understanding of computational and generative design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper etc.).
CAD DRAFTER
DETAILS:
Compensation: $60,320 - $93,600 salary range.
Location: Vancouver or Sea to Sky, BC. Hybrid options available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Develop detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings using Revit and AutoCAD. The ability to generate structural analysis models within Revit shall be considered an asset.

Prepare structural plans, sections, details and construction documents that meet industry standards and project requirements.
-
Work with engineers to interpret design concepts and incorporate feedback into revised drawings.
-
Review and verify drawings for accuracy, consistency and compliance with safety and building codes.
-
Liaison with architects and building designers to coordinate drawing sets between structural and architectural disciplines.
-
Maintain organized digital files of all drawings and revisions for easy access and version control.
-
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
-
Diploma or Certificate in engineering design and drafting technology from an accredited College or University or equivalent or related training

3+ years of direct drafting experience in the structural design

Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

Experience producing 2D and 3D engineering drawings
-
Strong understanding of drafting standards, schematics creation and technical documentation
-
Ability to interpret engineering markups accurately and translate them into detailed drawings

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER
DETAILS:
Compensation: $85,280 - $124,800 salary range.
Location: Vancouver or Sea to Sky, BC. Hybrid options available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Independent management of projects including client/contractor liaison, management of design process, inspection of works onsite and completion of projects
-
Report to Associate & Principal Structural Engineers for delivery of projects
-
Assist in leading, mentoring and development of Junior/Intermediate EIT staff
-
Liaison with architects, designers, contractors etc.
-
Perform detailed design calculations and analysis independently and under the guidance and supervision of the Associate & Principal Structural Engineers
-
Work with the drafting team for preparation of design drawings. Review drawings to ensure compliance with design intent. Preparation of details and drawing using REVIT
-
Assist in the development of the structural analysis systems and software to develop the technical data based within the firm
-
Assist in the development and implementation of the Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) under the EGBC Professional Guidance Act
-
Assist in preparation of monthly invoicing
-
Assistance in business development and securing new projects
-
Preparation and delivery of technical presentations for internal “lunch & learn” topics
-
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
-
At the minimum, a bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
-
4+ years of direct experience as an EIT or Project Engineer with a focus in residential and commercial structural engineering.
-
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SkyCiv and Bluebeam.
-
Working knowledge of on-site construction and construction methodology.
-
Knowledge of BC Building Codes and applicable material design standards.
-
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
-
Experience with timber, structural steel and concrete detailing.
-
The ability to manage time effectively and work both autonomously and part of a team.
-
Experience in mentoring junior members of past teams
-
Registered with EGBC as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or have achieved the designation of Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
